Places to go while waiting for flight at Orlando International Airport (MCO)
12 June 2015

There really aren't a lot of places down by the airport other than restaurants, hotels, gas stations. I guess the Florida Mall would be the closest shopping venue outside of the airport. Orlando airport does have a pretty nice selection of mall type stores. You could probably kill a couple of hours in them if you shopped slowly.

There's also a hotel in the terminal that rents rooms during the day if you wanted some place private to relax. You could rent a room and then hang out by the pool for a while, if you're not too vacationed out. If you got an outside room you could watch the planes taking off and landing.

The Florida Mall, located only minutes from the Orlando International Airport, is Central Florida’s largest and most remarkable shopping center. Welcoming more than 20 million visitors per year and spanning nearly 1.8 million square feet, The Florida Mall offers an experiential environment with more than 250 unique entertainment, retail and dining options.

At The Florida Mall, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Macy’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods complement a dynamic tenant lineup of numerous first-to-market retailers including one of only five M&M'S® World locations found in the world, Central Florida’s only Disney Store, Zara flagship, Central Florida’s first American Girl store, and the second worldwide location for Crayola Experience.

Making travel and shopping plans a breeze, visitors will enjoy the convenience of The Florida Hotel and Conference Center, a 511-room hotel located on property, offering a home away from home. Additionally, The Florida Mall offers exceptional customer service with its two Simon Guest Services locations, multi-lingual staff, foreign currency exchange, a valet parking option, motor coach drop-off locations, taxi stands, package check, seasonal shuttle program and indoor children’s play area.

The property’s recent redevelopment of the newly-added Dining Pavilion offers a fresh new customer experience that is well-suited to the Orlando market. The 105,000 square-foot Dining Pavilion features unique dining options, additional retailers, an expanded seating area and state-of-the-art customer amenities including free Wi-Fi throughout the shopping center. Located between American Girl and Dillard’s on the north side of the mall, the Dining Pavilion offers a total of 23 restaurants, five of which are new-to-market concepts, including El Meson Sandwiches, CARVERA Argentinian Grill, Carlo’s Bakery, la Madeleine and Bubbleology. In addition to new dining options, the Dining Pavilion will also feature five new retailers, including Morana, SportsAction, Inc., Ron Jon Surf Shop, Yankee Candle, GNC and Delores Jewelers.

These exciting new additions and convenient amenities solidify The Florida Mall as the premiere place to shop, dine and socialize in Central Florida.

Located minutes from the Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World Resort, the mall offers hotel accommodations and a conference center on property, as well as two Guest Services locations and valet parking for customer convenience. The shopping center is open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, Noon to 8 p.m. For additional information, contact the mall shopping line at (407) 851-6255.
